Nettle fertiliser is great – easy, quick, free, and the plants love it!
- Get some gloves and pick your nettles – leaves, stem, everything.
- Put them into a lidded bucket – push them down.
- Cover with water and if needed, put a weight on the nettles so they don’t float up.
- Close the lid!
- Wait a week or two.
- Put a nosepeg over your nose and pour the liquid into a container, put the nettle mush onto your compost.
Dilute the nettle “tea” before giving it to your plants – a couple of cupfuls in a watering can works well. It should look like tea (no stronger). If you like, you can keep the mush and just add fresh nettles on top, just cleaning out the bucket at the end of the season.
